FASTEST 5 HEADS SEAMER EVER PRODUCED

300 club cans per minute

Cans move through the machine and are seamed in a continuous motion, without stops, smoothly, at constant speed, minimizing liquid spillage. If at any time a can breaks, it continues to work undeterred.


Between 50 and 60 cans per minute can be seamed by each of the 5 heads on a VIKING 300 RAPID. This means minimum wear and therefore a longer lifetime for seaming rolls, chucks and springs, etc.

JK Somme’s seaming heads for irregular cans are the result of more than 100 years of continuous development. They include standard key features such as the following:

  • Patented “Anti Twist” technology allowing copying disc realignment without the need of regrinding.

  • Short cycle seaming system with rolls working in opposition for a perfect balanced seam.

  • Two first & two second operation seaming rolls/arms.

  • Pre-curling roll of the covers (optional).

  • Multi-adjustable seaming operation cams.

  • Extra rigid seaming levers for a perfect copy.

  • Stainless steel finish.

ROTARY CLINCHER FOR OVERFILLED CANS

It acts as a can topper, pressing down and fitting any protruding product back into the can. It acts also as a guillotine, cutting off sardine tails, octopus tentacles or pieces of meat that hang over the edges of the cans.​

  • The clincher separates and feeds each lid accurately onto each can body. With 8 stations, process is continuous, slow & precise.

  • Pushes and fits overfilled product into the can.

  • After that displaces the excess of oil, brine or sauce from each can before seaming.

  • Clinches and holds every lid onto its can body at two opposite points.

RAPID - MODULAR CONCEPT

The rapid modular concept represents a 360º change in JK SOMME's design philosophy, primarily focused in producing monoblock machines.
 
For the first time clincher and seamer are not fitted inside one same mainframe. VIKING 300 RAPID is composed of two modules, clincher and seamer, mechanically linked and driven by a single 15 Hp motor.

Advantages of modular construction are:

  •  Higher production 

  •  Seamer works cleaner since the fallen liquids (oil, vinegar, tomato sauce) stay mostly in the collecting tray of the  CLINCHING module. Recovery of oil for a reuse is now much more convenient. 

  •  Easier to displace through the factory. No need heavy forklifts, no need cranes, no need to tear down building walls  for placing the machine inside the factory.

  •  More convenient access for servicing and maintenance.

STAINLESS STEEL AS NEVER USED BEFORE


For the first time the complete seaming carrousel is made in stainless steel due to lost wax casting technique. An improvement that will be highly appreciated by our customers. Only painted surfaces are found inside the two mainframes covered with stainless steel plates.

VIKING CANMAKING VERSION

Special version for bottom seaming all kind of big sized irregular cans. Accepting a max can diagonal of 165 mm and up to 175 mm can height.
